Piston: Capital Crime [Dynastic Yellow Star Label]
In the times we find ourselves in, it’s important to tell Nazis and fascists to fuck off. The Tallahassee band Piston comes through with that message over and over again with the pummeling Oi! of their new record Capital Crime. On the title track, they pick up a “coward and creep” by his armpits and parade him through the streets to make the world witness his shame. “You trampled innocents/preying on the meek/turned daughters into survivors,” they scream over this barreling, thundering hardcore record. They’re more specific on “Bonehead Pose,” naming the “Nazi coward” racists as guttural gang vocals form a circle around these stupid and hateful motherfuckers. At a time when the two-party system has completely buckled and the “left” has decided to play nice with fascists, rhetoric in art and real life should have as much backbone as this Piston lyric sheet.
