punk this week: citric dummies, baby tyler, twisted teens, destiny bond + 14 more
Citric Dummies’ masterpiece, plus can’t-miss records by Imploders, SOGA, and more.

Hi, it’s Punk This Week, see/saw’s weekly punk and rock'n'roll recommendations column. It’s an absolutely wild week with the release of Citric Dummies’ Split With Turnstile, plus more massive new records from Baby Tyler, Twisted Teens, Destiny Bond, SOGA, Militarie Gun, Imploders, and so many more.
Here’s the way it works—the weekly column is for subscribers who pay $4/month or $40/year (or barter). That means every week, you could get writing about the best new punk records in your inbox. The paid subscription also gets you bonus podcast episodes and the see/saw radio archive.
You also get the knowledge that you’re supporting a fully independent operation that only exists because of readers like you. Please subscribe! OK, I’ve got to get to the punk show at the Eau Claire pizza spot. Come through if you can, and happy reading either way.
Citric Dummies: Split With Turnstile [Feel It]
Drew Ailes doesn’t give a fuck about lyrics, but unfortunately for him, when you lean in close enough to “I Can’t Relate,” you know the king is cooking as soon as he yammers the words “James Corden.” Split With Turnstile is the best album yet from Minneapolis’ Citric Dummies and one of the best punk records of the year. These 12 songs are defined by wild nonstop momentum (what’s up Travis), extremely charismatic vocals (what’s up Drew), menacing and belligerent bass (what’s up Drew), and unbelievable leads and riffs (what’s up Sean).
It’s loud music mixed incredibly well—this ideal combination of crisp and muddy. “Bozo Brain” is a perfect 50-second hardcore song, and there’s a solo on “Cruisin’ for the Dead” that nukes every pleasure receptor in my brain. Picking out highlights doesn’t even make sense for this record; it’s an album made for mainlining in its entirety. This is a distillation of everything that makes them one of the most exciting live hardcore bands in the world. I’m even starting to come around on their war against turnstiles.
