see/saw jukebox: first day back
The Santa Cruz emo band behind the excellent 2025 album Forward on the records that changed how they thought about music.
see/saw jukebox is a bonus podcast about perfect punk records from Punk This Week hosts Nina Corcoran and Evan Minsker. Each episode, we’re joined by special guests to curate perfect punk records for a mythical jukebox.
Nathan and Maggie of the young Santa Cruz emo titans First Day Back join us fresh from graduating college. They discuss balancing the band with their education, paying that TouchTunes premium to hear Aphex Twin at the bar, making friends at emo shows, standing up front at the hardcore/burlesque show, and which band’s YouTube rabbit hole rewired their brains. Maggie dreams up a floating jukebox.
Which four perfect punk records enter the jukebox? If you’d like to hear this episode of see/saw jukebox or our previous chats with members of the Marked Men, Touché Amoré, Citric Dummies, DEVO, Sweeping Promises, Gouge Away, Optic Sink, Downtown Boys, MSPAINT, Eraser, and King Tuff, they’re all available exclusively to paid see/saw subscribers ($4/month or $40/year or barter + there’s a two-week free trial)!
