punk this week: the hell, nisemono, eraser + 13 more
Three months into 2025, the good stuff just seems to keep on coming.

It’s time for the weekly punk column from see/saw, Punk This Week. As always, I’m recommending the best new punk records from the week that was, this time led by a new one from Cleveland’s the Hell. There’s also power duo Nisemono with their new record on Toxic State, Philadelphia’s Eraser with a new one on Siltbreeze, plus the States, Dangüs Tarküs, Olivia’s World, Commitment, and so many others.
Do you want to read about all of these records, this week and every week? Punk This Week is available to paid subscribers (and those who barter their way across the paywall). Free subscribers have access to weekly offerings including interviews, podcasts, playlists, and radio shows. Paid subscribers now get a two-week free trial! Please consider a subscription, free or paid, to help grow this reader-supported endeavor.
(Remember to check out the BATTLE FOR L.A. benefit compilation and I hope to see you at one of the stacked see/saw year 1 parties coming up in Minneapolis and Eau Claire.)
The Hell: The Hell 7” [Sorry State/Drunken Sailor]
Cleveland’s the Hell are back with an unreal new 7” of heavy, cascading, wild punk that teeters right on the edge of hardcore. It’s wild how many ideas they stuff into a song that ends in 52 seconds or how they manage to find even more speed and intensity when you’re already pretty sure they’ve topped off. “Dirt Nap” is the patient piece that pays off major, simmering for over a minute before launching into a drawn out punk rock dream sequence. Dig into a 7” with an album’s worth of vision and intensity.
