Rapid Dye: Rapid Dye [Cool Death/11PM]
For around a decade now, Rapid Dye have established themselves as a must-see hardcore band in Sydney (and, you know, wherever they played). This is their debut album (nine songs in 10 minutes), and as their 57-second song argues, they truly are kings of punk, masters of hardcore. This is a relentless and blown out hardcore record with amazing hooks. The drummer’s approach feels suffocating for “On the Take,” just absolutely no room for air at all. The art is a black and white photo of a show, and that’s what this album conjures—wild and wildly loud music in a tiny room where everybody is shoving everybody. This is the good stuff.
