Hey, it’s another round-up of new punk and rock'n'roll records: Punk This Week. With Public Figures and Mod Lang, Heather the Jerk and Aswan Dam, Institute and Toys That Kill, Timeout Room and D. Sablu, it’s shaping up to be another killer month and overall fantastic year for weirdos who scream into a microphone.

This column is only available in full to those who subscribe for $4/month, $40/year, or barter (hit me up). Punk This Weekbonus podcasts (including the new Marked Men episode of see/saw jukebox), and the full see/saw radio archive are what’s behind the paywall. There’s free stuff, too, if you want to subscribe for free.

Public Figures: Figure It Out! EP [self-released]

For weeks, this 7” by Naarm rockers Public Figures has been on my radar. They pay off the strength of those multiple lead singles with a record that sounds top shelf and surprisingly cohesive for how often they weave the lanes of genre. “Landed in a Trap” is full-on hardcore, sometimes they’re more glammy, some tracks feel like post-grunge alt rock standards, but the glue is charisma and outstanding hooks.
