Welcome to Punk This Week, see/saw’s weekly column exploring the latest and greatest punk and rock’n’roll records. It’s an incredible week for new punk records and the sickos who love them. There’s a standout tape from Cincinnati’s Liam Shaw, a remarkable album from Oslo’s Molbo, plus new stuff from Power Pants, a wide array of sick Australian bands, two exceptional new releases from RoachLeg Records, and so much more.

With a big pile of great new rock'n'roll music to dig through, it’s a great week to subscribe to see/saw! Punk This Week is available to paid subscribers (and those who barter their way across the paywall). Free subscribers still have access to interviews, podcasts, playlists, radio shows, and other weekly posts. Please consider a subscription, free or paid, to help grow this reader-supported endeavor. RIP David Lynch.

Liaam: Dancing With My Clothes On [self-released]

Last summer, I wanted to sit down with the Cincinnati punks to get a sense of what was going on down there. How are so many sick records coming out of that scene? This tape from Liaam, aka Liam Shaw from the band Choncy, is kind of a perfect piece of evidence. It’s a homespun bedroom side project that sounds like one person trying to conjure vibrant and camp-adjacent rock’n’roll music with a loud guitar, a drum machine, and a fuck ton of gumption. It’s a charming and low budget party rock’n’roll record sung fully deadpan. Angie Willcutt of Artificial Go provided the artwork here, one of Shaw’s many friends making art and throwing shows. This very sick collection is a missive from the Nati’s punk rock wellspring, which feels self-perpetuating and boundless right now.
