Lambrini Girls: Who Let the Dogs Out? [City Slang]
It’s the biggest punk release of the week—a riot grrrl band with a rocket strapped to them. They’re “should probably be nominated for Grammys if those people know what they’re talking about” big. The debut album from Brighton’s Lambrini Girls is intense and bitingly hilarious. Throughout the incredibly titled Who Let the Dogs Out?, Phoebe Lunny is scream-barking down dudes following her on the sidewalk while she grips her keys. She’s rolling her eyes (while still screaming) at coworkers asking for a lunch break suck job. Lily Macieira provides a massive bass sound, making these tracks sound enormous and monolithic. (The record’s production is unreal, thanks in part to producer Daniel Fox of Gilla Band.) A towering feat for punk rock that’s pop-forward, accessible, and sends a crucial message.
