punk this week: t.u.f.t., necron 9, the oidz + 8 more
What special treats do we get for see/saw’s big birthday weekend???

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for Punk This Week, the new punk recommendations column I throw together after muscling my way through all the big Bandcamp drops. It’s see/saw’s birthday weekend, and to celebrate, let’s listen to the new records from T.U.F.T., Necron 9, the Oidz, and a bunch of others. Some exciting new punk records got announced this week, too, so scroll to the end.
And if you want to learn about all these records, read what I’ve got to say about them, and have the good stuff delivered to your inbox every week, you’ve gotta subscribe to see-saw.fun. It’s $4/month or $40/year with a two-week free trial for all new subscribers. A paid subscription also gets you the full see/saw radio archive and, soon, bonus podcasts. Please subscribe, free or paid, to support this independent music journalism operation.
And if you’re within easy traveling distance of Minneapolis and Eau Claire, I’d love to see you at one of the upcoming year 1 parties between March 29 and April 5! Tickets are on sale for all three now.
T.U.F.T.: Swallow Me Whole [Pokeys]
The secret weapon of St. Louis punks T.U.F.T. is El’s growl. The band provide this steadily intense canvas, and what puts everything way over the top is this urgent growl that brings to mind the voice of Christina Pap of Scab and Vanilla Poppers. “I can’t stand the sight of your fucking face anymore,” she screams. There’s this unapologetic nature to T.U.F.T., who won’t make themselves small or apologize or whatever would make their enemies feel easier.
