Real Shocks: It Could End Today [Stupid Bag]
A scrappy, dirty, paranoid eight-song punk 7” with maniacal laughter buried in the mix? Philly’s Real Shocks nail the assignment on their non-demo debut It Could End Today. It’s a dense slab of scuzzy feedback-caked hardcore that’s best asset is its unrelenting momentum. The vocals are urgent but knowable, like your buddy who’s got a lot to say and has to holler over a crowded party to get the message out. Every song’s got a killer hook, and their approach is ragged, burly, and always on their mark. I love a hardcore record that sounds like a basement when so much of the landscape is aiming for the sewer.
