punk this week podcast 30: chime oblivion + makin’ out
A chat about John Dwyer’s new band with David Barbarossa, the return of Cold Meat, John Waters-inspired hardcore, and much more.

Punk This Week is see/saw’s weekly podcast from co-hosts Evan Minsker and Nina Corcoran—a discussion of the latest and greatest in the world of punk rock. We talk about six new punk records we’re loving from the past week.
Following an intense session of whittling down which records from this stacked release week would get discussed, Evan and Nina plugged in microphones to ponder the essentials: cartoon killer tomatoes, movie concessions, soft pretzel sticks, and a toddler’s first favorite movie.
After interviewing John Dwyer and David Barbarossa for Stereogum, Nina brought the excellent debut album from Chime Oblivion. Evan brought the fantastic debut album from the Minneapolis band Makin’ Out. They also talked about the new records from Heelplant, Cold Meat, Slags, and Coffee Stain.
Make sure to check out the new Iron Lung record and read David Anthony’s comprehensive interview with them for see/saw.
Thanks to Baby Tyler Band for use of our theme song “Needs” off their self-titled album. Thanks to Waylon Thornton for the bumpers. Thanks to Tyler Nickell for the podcast’s artwork.
