punk this week: motorbike, sharp pins, dumbells, bad breeding + 17 more
I love punk records so, so much.

Hey it’s Punk This Week, see/saw’s weekly recommendations column, and sweet Jesus is this a massive week for new punk records. Do I say that a lot? Sure, but I wrote about 21 records this week and briefly mentioned several others worth investigating. There’s two standout albums out now on Feel It Records, the long-awaited return of Total Punk’s Mind Meld imprint, two very sick projects out of Los Angeles, a star turn from Sharp Pins, some massive hardcore records, and so much more.
You ready to read about all this stuff? You want new punk recommendations delivered to your inbox every week? You can have it for $4/month or $40/year; try it two weeks for free, see what you think. A paid subscription also gets you the full see/saw radio archive and, soon, bonus podcasts. Please subscribe, free or paid, to support this independent music journalism operation.
And if you’re within easy traveling distance of Minneapolis and Eau Claire, I’d love to see you at one of the upcoming year 1 parties between March 29 and April 5! Tickets are on sale for all three now.
Motorbike: Kick It Over [Feel It]
The Checkered Flag Studio, a Cincinnati basement but soon a proper studio space, is a dim little cave made to sound perfect thanks to the strategic placement of old couch cushions. Kick It Over is a fantastic rock’n’roll record written and tracked in that basement, which in some capacity sounds to me like Cincinnati. “Afraid of Guns” and “Western Front” find this tightrope balance between stomping muscle and swaggering glam. It’s tough but lowkey it’s a little flashy.
