Hey, it’s Punk This Week, see/saw’s weekly newsletter column covering the best new punk and rock'n'roll records. This week’s genuinely massive with new records from FEN FEN, Bootcamp, Hunx and His Punx, 1-800-MIKEY, the Sleeveens, Jobber, and so many additional gems ready to be discovered.

You want to get your ears on the best new punk records out there? You want to read about everything from this week and everything I wrote about in previous columns? To access Punk This Week this time and every time, you’ve got to sign up for $4/month or $40/year or barter. There’s a two-week free trial if you want to try it out and dip.

In addition to the column, there are bonus podcasts and a full radio archive for the paid subscribers. That said, most of the stuff you get on this website is free. Since this thing is fully independent, subscribing to see/saw—free or paid—makes a massive difference in the future of this operation.

FEN FEN: In Yer Sights [Sweet Time]

Last year, Detroit’s FEN FEN released their deeply promising new album National Threat in what’s turned out to be a wildly fruitful period for Wayne County rock’n’roll. In Yer Sights is even better, churning and burly in this way that feels like it’s just gonna be about dudes doing dude shit. In sharp opposition to Heather the Jerk earlier this year, the chain and leather and blood of “Motorcycle” is very motorcycle. Then there are these songs about complacency and submission by default, offering insight into a deep-seated anger beyond aesthetic checkpoints. Shout out FEN FEN for the latest Michigan punk rock dog allegory, a tradition as old as the form itself.
